Anya’s Awards and Research

Congratulations to Anya for receiving both The Husky 100 and the Undergraduate Excellence in Research Award, and for completing her B.S. in Biochemistry!

These honors recognize not only her contributions to small heat shock protein (sHSP) research, but also her exceptional hard work, curiosity, and dedication.

Anya’s research in the Klevit Lab investigates how chimeric swaps between sHSP paralogs regulate oligomerization and chaperone activity, as well as how

phosphorylation‑dependent mechanisms influence protein behavior. Her work advances our understanding of how structural domains and post‑translational modifications coordinate sHSP function.

Reflecting on her time in the lab, Anya shared:

“These past two years in the lab have been nothing short of transformative. Before joining the Klevit Lab, I could not have imagined the opportunities that would open up for me, both

in research and beyond. The curiosity and motivation that brought me into the lab only grew stronger here, driving me to pursue opportunities that ultimately led to these awards. Thank you to Dr. Klevit for taking the time to meet with me that Wednesday afternoon, to Mia for putting up with my many email inquiries before I even joined (and the millions of questions that followed after), and to everyone in the lab for their unique support and the many fun conversations along the way.”
